I have been known to troll my favorite vintage shopping sites looking for a one-of-a-kind vintage pieces for hours on end, I have way too many sites to go through. Launching a search mission for something spectacular at 1 am, when insomnia has had the best of me, feels so good and so right.

There are the obvious must-visit sites such as Ebay or the ones listed here by Thefashionspot, but I was surprised TFS left out Malleries, I mean they carry the most amazing drool-worthy pieces, dating back to Before Christ.

Self control is essential while visiting the sites or you'll end up impulsively buying a few vintage Chanel bags, took me time to learn that.

I had a great holiday season and I hope you all did, I got many goodies that I actually wanted. You know how you get random gifts for christmas and pretend to like what you got? Well thankfully this didn't happen to me this year. I'm going to wear my gift throughout the weeks, because I'm still excited about them and look at them as new.
My Fav gift is pictured below, I only got it because Santa looked at my Safari history, Santa got it SO right this time.
On this cloudy New Year's Eve I wore my J Crew sweater, which was a xmas gift. Pink and pretty, I never thought I was a pink person, but I quite like it.
The Celine bag was an early gift to myself and had proved useful for work and (starting Jan 1st) the gym.

I delight in this dress every time I wear it, my favorite thing about it is the cutout back and the small stitching details. With my busy schedule I have less and less time to get ready for any social event and a simple dress and heels is all I have time for. I just adore this new clutch I won it from Cortnie's blog stylelustpages, it's really versatile and fits everything and it's the first thing I've ever won.

When I travel for work I always seem to have extra online shopping time, which can be detrimental to the wallet, but quite fun. I've had my eye on a pair of Lanvin cutout wedges for weeks now. I always seem to fill out all the information, but can't click submit/order. Doubts of weather I will ever wear these wedges plague me right at that final step. I have been known to buy pretty shoes and never wear them, therein lies the problem. I'm leaning more and more on getting them, a few more nights in this hotel room might do it.

The Sunday after the snowstorm was a perfectly beautiful fall day, the sun was shinning and there were no signs of a snowstorm that surprised the Northeast the day before. I was all packed and ready to move on Saturday (only I would plan to move while it snowing), well Mother Nature made sure that didn't happen, the movers did not even make it to my old apartment, I didn't realize how bad it was. With all my clothes packed, my old buggy worn-out jeans came in handy, carried my J Crew Edie bag to avoid an all tomboyish look.

I'm on a Zara ban, I mean I'm seriously not stepping foot into a Zara store or visiting their site for a month. I've been on a Zara binge for the last few weeks, you'd think it was my last name. It all started innocently, I've recently been going on job interviews and I needed muted clothes to wear to them. So I'd stop by the store and pick up a skirt or a blazer, then it all spiraled out of control, I'd go in and walk out with a few NOT so muted outfits.

Finally just decided to get this mustard dress instead of constatly thinking about it.

My go-to Converse chucks have been loving to me for years, from running late to homeroom in high school, to walking miles from one lecture hall to another in college, I still wear these shoes while running errands.

I mean they are chucks, everyone has owned a pair at one point in their life, right, right? If for some God forsaken reason I wouldn't be able to wear heels, these shoes here would be my everyday wear, my number 2!!

This vintage Givenchy coat / sweater is reason #8978 why I longed for Autumn days, it is very comfortably, colorful and I got it at a steal.

If you've followed my blog for a while, you'll notice a trend; I have a weakness for gold, gold-covered, gold-plated or just about gold anything, hence the mesh gold scarf. Takes me longer to buckle those shoes than it does getting ready, but once they are on the backache I experience while buckling them is all worth it.

It's been cooler and overcast these last few days leaving nothing to complain about, but a lot to be thankful for like this Rachel Roy coat. I've always loved Rachel Roy's pieces, so I was beyond elated when I got this coat as a gift. It's 2 sizes larger, but it comes with a belt, so hey you learn to improvise if you love something. The coat's skirt is really full and the hem is perfectly mid-length giving it that 50s silhouette.

Did everyone feel that crisp brisk breeze on the East Coast? Finally, layering without getting ticketed by the fashion police, cheers to that.

Mackage is a brand I was not familiar with until a chance encounter while shopping in SoHo, in a store I now don't remember, will research and post here. When I walked out of the dressing room in this little Mackage number my friend and the SA simultaneously nodded and said "yes to the dress."

I love the laced up side details and the shoulder pads. This is a dress that really does not need jewelry except for a simple bangle and yes, my classy little black hair band I forgot to take off.

Meet Me on The Rooftop at Sundown

I've lived in this building for about a year and I have only been to the rooftop three times. At first I couldn't even figure out how to get there, long story. This was one of the three times I went up there and the skyline was impossibly breathtaking. I was in an 80s-combat-kind of mood with the fluo bag and the huge clip-on earrings, by the way those things don't stay on securely.

The summer after graduating high school I started working at a dental office, my first official job, I actually planned on becoming a dentist, oh how things change. Anyway, there was this little park by the office we would go bask and have lunch. On a recent trip back to DC I visited this little park again and it just brought back so many memories. As the rest of the country watched football and the Emmy's on Sunday I decided to watch that new movie, Contagion. It is a must watch people, plus it validates my obsession with purell. Fashion Night Out NYC

Fashion Night Out has become somewhat of a movement and I like it. There were countless events to pick from in the city. I was initially supposed to go to the Missoni for Target event, hence the Missoni dress, but ran out of time. Started off at the lovely Barbara Campbell's presentation of her jewelry line, amazing, check it out here, Bloomingdales will be carrying her line starting October. Next stop was Intermix, Theory and Shopbop events in Meatpacking. Managed to get a few photos, but the entire night was a blast. Hope everyone had a fun night!

One of the advantages of living across from a studio is you get to spy on all the photoshoots and you also get to see people leaving presentations. On this particular day, I was working at home and all of a sudden there was this sudden noise outside, and granted my neighborhood is always noisy, this was a different type of noise, it was people discussing the presentation they had just walked out of. I probably stood at my window for like 10 minutes and naturally snapped some stalkerish photos. See if you can spot the Sartorialist's talented Scott Schuman? Or Nick Wooster?

I have been dying to test drive my new (big) baby Celine and tonight was the night. We were headed to a casual dinner so I threw on the cable necklace to be somewhat dressed up for this new baby. I have now realized this infatuation is a phase I go through with new bags and shoes and then in a few weeks I'm itching for something else, sigh. Anyhoo, I'm almost embarrassed to be photographing this denim shirt, because I have been wearing it everywhere since I got it about 2 weeks ago and I mean everywhere, so if you know me and you've seen me in this denim shirt, I promise you I own two other shirts. Nothing special for my baby just some delicious mexican food, if you have any doubts about getting this Celine bag, like I did, you should just take the plunge, it's everything you've imagined and more. I think I like it more than my mini Celine because I can carry it over my shoulder.

Stella McCartney's faux leather bags have always fascinated me, the slouch, the texture, and the softness all perfection. McCartney, a vocal animal rights advocate refuses to use fur or leather in her hugely successful clothing line, a rarity with other high-end houses. This stand has led her to design and create faux-leather handbags, the same ones that fascinate me. Now as someone whose closet is filled to the brim with leather, including leather clothing, I am clearly not vegan and can never justify spending over a grand on faux anything. That was until I laid eyes on one of her new Falabella bags, beautifully accented with gold hardware and I was sold, that's all it took my friends, Gold!

I am enjoying the calm before the storm that is New York Fashion Week, always making my escape to DC every chance I get, it's not the beach, but it works. I am excited to put my scarves to use as turbans this summer, turbans are a great alternative on a bad-hair day. Growing up I remember my grandmother wearing the most beautiful, colorful head scarves and turbans almost everyday, she still does and owns a great collection, totally a Kenyan thing.

Finally some pictures of yours truly and yes, I wear leather in the summer. These shorts were originally pants when I bought them, very 1980s high-waisted pants, I had no intention of wearing them as pants so I cut and had them hemmed. Walaaaa! I Wear them way too much, but I can't help myself, the leather is ultra supple and, get this, they have deep pockets. These shorts are also easy to transition from day to night, just throw own some 6 inch platform heels for a night look. I had to par down my look with flats given I was already wearing a sheer tank top, gotta keeping it PG-13 folks.

I for one don't understand why Zara does not offer online shopping, this reason alone has made me miss out on dresses, because people who live a block away from Zara scoop them all up. After seeing this dress on the website as part of the New Collection, I have called Zara every other day to see if they have received it yet, they haven't, but I will continue to check-in until I get my hands on it. At this point I think I'm only this determined because I want to compensate for missing out on the Zara tulip dress that sold out in days.

One of the most beautiful shoes I have ever owned. I loved them so much that I was afraid of ruining them by wearing them in NYC (especially on the dreaded cobblestone), so I only wore them once walking around, what I assume is a cleaner, California. Anyway, it's been hard for me to love these shoes so much and yet not wear them so I am letting them go. The hardest part to get over is the agony I went through to find them, but my loss is your gain if you're a size 7.5 to 8, you're in luck. Check them out here

Every time I come across this magnificent Dolce & Gabbana dress from S/S 11, which has to be one of my favorite collection, my heart literally stops... well it skips a beat. Earlier this year it was one of the most photographed dresses on the red carpet, in editorials and at fashion shows. It's ubiquity did not sit well with me, but I love this dress so much so that even months after I first laid eyes on it, it still makes my heart stop.

Lisa Marie Fernandez swimsuits are starting to grow on me. Her swimwear is scuba-inspired and made using neoprene.
The large exposed zippers, especially front ones, give the swimsuits a dash of sexy.
They come in many vibrant colors, my favorite is red with a contrasting black zipper.
I don't surf, but something tells me if I don this red hot LMF one-piece, I could win a few surfing competitions. Check out the line on Moda Operandi or LMF site

Phoebe Philo is succeeding in making her Celine totes super exclusive.

I have literally called about 10 stores that carry the bag and they all have a wait list of more than 15 people, I mean seriously? more exclusive than the Birkin?

Had to became friends with an SA at a department store, who seemed to share the same passion for Celine bags and he assured me he'll add a star to my name (which I hope means I get bumped up the list), so now the waiting game begins.

After seeing the picture of Celine's 2012 resort bags, tweeted by Elle's Joe Zee of, I think I may have to wait for them, these hues are more tempting. Some more Fluoro in my closet.

One of the more promising faces of Ford Models, look at her amazing face, it's so refreshing to see a girl with a unique look doing remarkably well. Can they please leave her wavy / curly hair alone!

I First noticed her in a spread she did for Teen Vogue, then saw her strutting the 2010 fall runway shows for Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, philip Lim, Vivienne Westwood and JPG.

A native of Turks and Caicos, she says she grew up in bikinis and has a love for animals, which is why she wants to become a veterinarian.

There is a youthful insoiciance about her that with time will earn her VS wings.

John Galliano is designing Kate Moss' wedding dress.

The two great Kates of the UK have caused such palpable excitement around their wedding gowns. First, The Duchess' Alexander McQueen weeding dress was all everyone talked about this spring and this Summer, we can look forward to the same anticipation with Kate Moss' Galliano gown.

After Galliano publicly imploded, there were doubts if he would design Moss' dress, but Moss is a friend indeed, she's sticking with her friend through the public denunciation he's facing.

update: Congrats to the couple on tying the knot today, July 1st.

I seldom buy magazine, but when I stop by Barnes & Noble I always pick up Vogue Paris.

The June / July magazine cover was by far the most captivating I have seen in years. Isabeli Fontana's spread, shot by Mert & Marcus and styled by E-I-C Emmanuelle Alt, was a cunning rendition of hot summer days.

The resemblance to Linda Evangelista (on the left) in a 1989 spread, shot by Steven Meisel, is striking. Great work.

Finally Received Florescence

I decided to stop apologizing for taking long unexplained hiatus, because I would have to start every post with "I'm sorry..."
Anyway, I finally received my Cambridge satchel in florescent yellow! All good things come to those who wait and WAIT I did, for a month precisely. See, after this amazing bag was featured in fashion blogs and magazines, they must have sold out and could not keep them in stock. This wait came to an end with me hunting down the FedEx guy all over west village as he made his rounds.

So far I love it, the color is so exuberant. If you want to experiment with neon-like colors go here and nab yourself a pink, yellow or orange one in 3 different sizes.
Here are the promised photos. I got the 11' one, which I prefer carrying as a clutch.

Can't fit a wallet, but it fits everything I need.

It's that time of year again, when I window shop and add items to my wish baskets on various online-shopping sites. Believe me this mere act can be as satisfying as actually buying the items. I kid, I kid, It's not that satisfying, in fact it drives me to tears, just realizing I may never own any of my wish-list items is heart-breaking.
Nonetheless creating wish-lists serves it's purpose so I continue to do it, despite the painful realization that follows. Sort of like drinking, you know how bad the hangover will be, but do you quit? No, au contraire.
